Frequently asked questions
How do I get an API key?
For Anthropic: go to console.anthropic.com → Settings → API Keys → Create Key. For OpenAI: go to platform.openai.com → API Keys → Create new secret key. Both require a credit card under Billing. Your key stays in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
Which platforms does OrderingWell work on?
DoorDash, UberEats, and Grubhub. Open any restaurant page on those sites and the sidebar appears automatically.
Why is the sidebar not appearing?
Make sure you have saved an API key in Settings (click the extension icon → open Settings). The sidebar only appears on individual restaurant pages, not search results. Try refreshing the page after saving your key.
How accurate are the nutrition estimates?
OrderingWell first checks Nutritionix and the USDA food database for verified data. For items not found there, it uses AI estimates — those show a ±% uncertainty range in the sidebar. See our Accuracy page for the full breakdown.
Is my API key safe?
Yes. Your key is stored in your browser's local extension storage and is only sent directly to the AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) when a menu is being analyzed. We never receive or store your key.
What is the Pro plan?
Pro ($4.99/mo or $39/yr) removes the need for your own API key. OrderingWell handles all AI calls on our end. It works immediately after signup with no setup required.
How do I change my diet style or calorie targets?
Click the OrderingWell icon in your Chrome toolbar, then click the settings gear. You can update your goal, diet style, calorie targets, and excluded ingredients there.
What does a score of 0 mean?
The item contains an ingredient you marked as excluded in your settings (e.g. peanuts, dairy, gluten). Items scoring 0 are highlighted in red.
